Hi this is my first ever thread so be nice :)

I've got a rather annoying issue with my computer. For the past few days my pc has been working extremely slow despite the 2GB ram and whenever I tried to restart, it would not load the startup programs and nothing would work either. Just as a test I disconnected the ethernet cable and bam! PC started working fine again, but this meant no internet... So I plugged it back in and it started freezing up again.

So I restarted with the ethernet still in.. froze up then I unplugged the cable and restarted.. bam worked again so I plugged the cable back in and this time it froze up and gave me the blue screen of death! Fortunately there was a wireless card nearby so I jammed that in and my internet was back along with my computer stability.

The issue is that I'm low on free usb slots so this means that when I need to plug something else in for example my iPod I have to sacrifice another thing for example my external hard drive. Is there any way I can fix this ethernet blue screen of death issue? Thanks

We would need to error code from the blue screen.

omg your computer is one angry bitch on her period!! lol

could be a virus as it may be a spam bot using your internet connection but only from your ethernet port which would explain the slowdown. for i quick solution but a cheap oci ethernet card from ebay and install it on your computer (after you have done a full virus scan obviously). if u r scared to open your computer buy a usb hub so you dont run out of usb ports.

Yeh, you're onboard ethernet controller could have borked. I've had a couple go bad on me before.

But, it is actually more likely a virus. Visit the malware forums and post a HJT loh and let someone have a look at it.

If that doesnt turn up anything positive, buy a USB hub. Simple!
