I have a new-ish PC. When I had it there was a problem removing the previous owners account. So I did a fresh XP Install but the comp would not detect the network adapter. Someone sorted it but I was not there so do not know how. Can't find that person at the moment so need to sort it myself.
Anyway, SP3 got installed {forgot to switch of automatic updates} and comp played up. Read somewhere SP3 and AMD CPUs don't go well together so I did a fresh XP install and now comp can't detect Network Adapter again. I have a floppy disk here which I am sure holds the key but I am not sure how to use or when to use. The disk is NVIDIA Chipset IDE Driver. All other disks are accounted for so I am convinced this disk holds the answer please help. Thanks in advance P.S I am not a techie so please keep it simple.

Hi New,

First off you should leave your up-date service ON! to many threats out there to not keep getting your up-dates. Now the nvidia disk may have the driver on there but may not. Do you have another PC to access the internet? What is the make and model of the network card? If you have internet access I would always go to the manufactturer's website and get the lateset drivers. My System: ProGear Custom

I have another disk here which I just found. It is the NVIDIA nForce 3 Series motherboard CD If that might help.
The PC was built by someone else so I do not know what makes/models are in there. |

Is it an add in card or straight off the motherboard?

I think its already on the motherboard but i could be wrong. The only thing I can see plugged into the motherboard is the second graphics card.

Sounds like it's on the motherboard if you do not see another card in the PCI slot.
1. Try going to your device manager 2. Highlighting the adaptor 3. Update driver 4. Search (Browse) 5. Choose your Nvida disk (Make sure it's in your drive first) 6. Search the disk for "Driver Folder" 7. Highlight the folder and hit next If the driver is on the disk, it should find it.... Good Luck Hope this helps! |

You may try that, But if it's not seeing it, it may be bad. You might have to get a new network card (PCI)
