| I was wondering if there is any good program that can test what ports work on my network work. also is there a list somewhere that tells me what set of ports are for what type of tasks and such. |

| I am looking for a program so I know what ports I am allowed to use in a network that isn't mine (public). and sites that provide use like the one above categorized ad undesirable. I want to know what ports the network will allow me to use so I can not wast my time trying to find out my program wont work. and some I don't know what ports are being used anyway. |

| Try this, you'll have to do it for a range though. Hmm, I wonder, could you run nmap on your own IP? That might do every port.
