Default Problem installing Cable & wireless 802.11g wireless router

Hi,

I have purchased a cable & wireless LAN ADSL2+ Modem Router and I have trouble installing it.

I got up to the point where I had to enter 192.168.16.1 to bring up the user name and password box. The instruction sheet told me to enter "admin" as username and "admin" as password. I've entered this exactly but it seems that the password is not "admin" so I cannot set it up.

Has anybody had similar experiences with installing such wireless routers and am I doing something wrong?

About a year ago, my friend also had the same problem with a Linksys router and he given up on it and returned it back to the shop.

It is paramount that you login to the box to set it up.

Try no password or 'password'.

Always lower case, so if you are trying 'ADMIN' try 'admin'.

Other than that call the manufacturer.

Sorry for the late reply.

I have managed to get pass the admin/admin stage but It seems that the router is not configurable for my computer, I have exchanged it for a Belkin router and it connects without any fuss. :)

Tip: Never buy Cable & Wireless routers, they are impossible to set up.
