Default Problem with IP configuration

i use an acer aspire laptop with vista os.internet protocol settings is always configured manually.when i configured my laptop. and put my network data cable,it was doing fine and could browse o the web. i shut my system and left it for some hours.i put it on to continue browsing ...

i use an acer aspire laptop with vista os.internet protocol settings is always configured manually.when i configured my laptop. and put my network data cable,it was doing fine and could browse o the web. i shut my system and left it for some hours.i put it on to continue browsing and i realised that the internet protocol configuration setting had dissappeared(dns,ip address )everytin all gone.so everytime i shut down my system and restart the following day,i have to configure the ip address before i can browse,please what should i do to make the ip configuration permanent.

Yes, you should be able to auto configure it, this way it will always be the same when u log on to your laptop

Do you have a router that your internet line plugs into?

If so you can probably turn on the DHCP Server (it may already be enabled) and then just set the clients to 'Obtain settings automatically'

That should solve your problems... sort of.

I will look and see if I can find an answer as to why if forgets the settings you enter though. I have never heard of a problem like this before though.

Also, what OS is this? Vista?

That should solve your problems... sort of.
Hp,Dell and other computer brands is doing well with manual configuration cos the ip settings neva clear off but all acer branded laptops always clear off so u have to configure it everytime u shut down and restart later.please i do rectify the problem with the acer branded.they are also all vista os
