I have a laptop that doesnt have wireless built in so have been using a wireless adaptor(usb style)
i have two of these and neither one is recognising any internet connections where as a week ago they were finding 3/4. i also tried connecting to the internet using just the modem but my laptop wouldnt recognise it had been plugged in. I also dont know how to reset my computer to factory default..and its being a pain in the a***. its an Ei Systems G322 and if anybody can help me with either problem it would be much appreciated.. Please feel free to e-mail me any advice <no emails, use the forum please> |

I won't go in to how to setup the wireless here but will point out that if you have router between your modem and your computers then you connected the laptop by Cat5 to the modem the modem will not reconize the laptop because when the modem was first setup it used the mac address of the router or the first computer plugged in the RJ45 port of the modem. To get around this you either have to reset the modem (this may not work) or get your ISP to remove the mac address that the modem reconizes. Another way around the mac address security of the modem is to use a router that can 'clone' the mac address of the first computer that the modem reconized. Does this make sense? Hope this helps... My System: Ouch
