I recently encountered this problem. The other day i kept trying to connect to my netgear wireless router and it would attempt to connect and then stop. I'm able to connect to other wireless routers, just not this one. The only way that i can get the wireless router to connect is if i first connect my computer via hard wire directly to the router. Once i do that my computer connects to the wireless router and works fine wirelessly until i restart the computer. Can anyone tell me how to fix this because it is such a pain in the ass. Im running a dell insiron e1505 with a dell wireless 1500 draft 802.11n WL wirless card. The router is a netgear rangemax wireless router.

thanks

I don't understand the question.

What happens when you try and connect wirelessly first time? Can you see the wireless network in the Available Networks list?

yea i can see the wireless network and when i go to click on it, it says attempting to connect to the server, that screen sits there for awhile and then it just resets and shows the list of available networks.

Is there a a Vista computer on your network? I ask because I am having a similar problem. 4 computers, (2 vista, 2 XP) on my network and I am having a problem getting 1 of the XP's to be able to talk to the router. I don't know enough to ask the right questions to get help, but asking you what YOUR circumstances are is helping me to get an idea so I guess I'm being selfish here lol to see if what helps you can also help me.

OK.

You mention that it only connects to the wireless network when you have conencted via wire first. Do you mean that you can connect via wire, then disconnect this and then connect via wireless?

Is this a new problem or has it been like it since the start?

Would you please connect via the wired connection and then do the following:

On the new computer, go to Start - Run - type in CMD

Type in ipconfig /all

Right click and click Select All

Then press Enter

That will copy the information to the Windows Clipboard. Come back to this forum and in a new reply right click and select Paste

Also, is there any security on your network? Does your wireless have a password?

If so, can you tempoarily disable it and then try connecting again.
