Hi rbsccoby,

Thanks for clarifying which Norton product you have installed.

The first step you need to take is to make sure that LiveUpdate has been running and that you have the latest program and definition files installed. Click Start-All Programs->Norton Internet Security, and choose LiveUpdate from the sub-menu. LiveUpdate will begin running and will download and install any available updates.

Next, please make sure the Windows Firewall is disabled, so that it does not conflict with the Norton Personal Firewall. You should also make sure that there are no other internet security or antivirus applications installed by checking in the Add/Remove Programs Control Panel. The rule of thumb is to never have more than one antivirus and internet security application that is scanning in real-time installed.

Verify that both File and Printer sharing is enabled on the machine that has the printer connected, as well as the other machine. Make sure that you click on the "Permissions" tab in both the File and Printer sharing and give full access.

1. Launch Norton Internet Security 2008.

2. Click on the "Norton Internet Security" tab at the top of the window. Click on the arrow next to "Settings," click on "Web Browsing," click on "Personal Firewall" and then choose the "Configure" button.

3. On the left side of the window, click on "Trust Control" and then click on the "Trusted" tab at the top of the window.

4. Click on the "Add" button and add the IP address of the other computer. Click the "OK" button and then click the "Apply" button at the bottom of the page.

After completing the steps above, open Network Neighborhood and locate your Share and see if you can access it.

Next, open your Printers and Faxes Control panel and try printing a test page to the shared printer.

If you are still unable to see your shared drive or print to your shared printer, try disabling Norton Internet Security and then try to access the shared folders and printers again. If you are able to access them after disabling Norton Internet Security, then that indicates a problem with your installation.

Please let me know outcome.

Thanks,
Mike
