hey guys, I have an Interesting problem, I just got my DSL connected @ 16,000kbps, the problem is that i dont get even 1/3 of the speed. In the modem everything is fine, conection with the DSLAM is in 17,000 Down 1024 Up... Now when i connect through wireless to my modem and make the speed test it just gives me 2000 kbps, BUT if i make the connection with the LAN wire, the speed goes up to 6000kbps... My guess is: My provider IS giving me the 16,000 but some how I lose more than 50% from my modem to my computer... with wireless that is acceptable and maybe understandable but with LAN wire?? any ideas?

DSL company's sell UPTO a speed, they guarantee nothing.

What is more likely is you are too far from a telephone exchange to get the full speed they sold you.

I'd call them, personally.

Wireless speed is probably going to be less due to to the speed of your wireless equipment and range from said equipment.

The test is best done on the cable setup, if the speed is too low it is going to be an issue with your ISP.

the wireless card is 802.11b/g, but my modem supports all bands, I thought that maybe they are too close to each other (they are in the same room) and put the reception of my card in 50% and the modem also in 50% but the problem persists.
