is there anyway to speed up dialup internet at all?

my freind has dialup and it is really unreliable and i want her to start using msn but its just soo slow to repsond and get the information

downloads average at about 6 kbp/s

her pc is okay 1.6ghz 256mb ram and windows xp home

ive debugged it all and also de virused it

i also checked the modem speed settings and they were all maxed so cant make it any faster there...

any advice is appreciated

There is no way to increase your actual download speed.

You can however use compression programs that display web pages in a way that they display quicker.

They basically download certain parts first and other larger parts compressed so the whole page appears to be faster.

It's not a huge difference but it does work.

I hated dial up because it was so slow. The sad thing is there are people that still don't have a way to get highspeed internet because of where they are located.

Yeah. It just about killed me when I was forced to use dialup again for awhile. I had gotten so used to high-speed. Everything just seems to crawl.

Well I also suggest please visit Opera's website which offer some plugins called "Speed Dail" in their new version. I am sure you would like it.

I wish I would have known about this when I had dial up. At least I would have had some way to have the pages load faster. I hated dial up.

i use dialup too ... it really sucks !

it shown as 115Kbps but sometime it;s on 50 kbps

any way ... i have to disable the Internet monitoring of my antivirus to have the appropriate speed !
