....Ensuring that your laptop is set up correctly to use the internet?

i've recently bought a laptop and have just done the speedtest in a previous thread, its reading a download speed of 1080kb/s but i'm supposed to be on 8mb b/band

Here's another test i've just done.
If this is 8mb, i think i'll go back to my old 2mb as it as a darn site quicker!

Ok my calculation was wrong i forget the formula.

You are on less than 1mb.

Thing is on ADSL if you read your contract it is UPTO 8mb.

Meaning if you are far from an exchange you get less.

no, i live in a small city called Lancaster.
I've just done a speedtest on site recommended to me by my ISP and it reads 7.4mb
yet when i do one on speedtest.net it reads at less than 1meg
