Default Is there a way to route cable internet...

...through DSL router? I've got Netgear DG834G wireless modem/router with 4 lan ports, and one RJ11 for DSL internet. We have got cable internet modem, which has got a lan port connected to a PC. I want to connect one of my 4 ports to cable modem and share the internet to other three lan ports or wireless. Has anybody done this or can give me a good advice what to pay attention to. I got all current internet settings, user, password etc...Yes it is modem/router. I can't connect it using it's RJ11 adsl port, I can only connect it to the cable modem through LAN port.I found out it is possible on another Modem/router with the same interfaces as mine, but that one had an option to disable dsl port or similar. Mine has lot of options, but I can't see the way to explicitly tell it that the LAN port is now actually the one that recieves the internet. Any more possibilities?

write down ip adress, dns, dnas, secondary dns! hook the modem up to the modem port on the router and the other ones hook to pc! go to network connections and right click on connection and click properties set ip adress to auto and dns to auto! click internet explorer and go to 192.168. xx.xx (the x's are different for each router! you may haft to find out! once there you will see that the ip adress and stuff is blank! fill it in and yahoooooooo!!!!!

Hook your router up to the cable modem and your pc's to the router and go from there, works just fine. One thing you may run into is your isp may do mac filtering so you may have to call them up and tell them you have a router now instead of a pc.

If the model number you provided is correct then you have a combined modem/router. You wont be able to share you internet connection using this router as you have a cable modem connection. I suggest you sell the one you have and invest in a broadband router the right one for your connection.
