Default Toshiba Satellite A100 - no Wireless connection

Hi

Our laptop doesnt seem to want to connect to the internet via my router and was wondering if anyone can give some insights ! It has an Atheros AR5005G Wirelss Network Adapter and has been fine up until now. When you click on the setting that checks for networks, it cant locate any at all which is a bit strange as normally you get 3 or 4 other signals....the strongest onebeing mine. You just get a blank white window come saying 'No networds detected'.If you go to check the adapter, it says that the driver is fine etc. I am wondering if the network card i likely to be at fault or something else. I have turned my router on and off aswell as restarted the laptop a couple of times. All to no avail.

Any thoughts would be welcome. thanks.

Dean

Can you connect wirelessly to the Router, using another Laptop ?

If so, try uninstalling the Wireless Network driver, rebooting and then reinstalling it, and check to see if a newer driver is available.

I have a rather embarassing confession to make ! I hadn't noticed that the tiny switch in the side of the laptop that switches the wireless connection on/off was in the 'off' position !!!! I think my son must have inadvertently touched it earlier on. Anyway, all sorted but thanks for your trouble to reply !

My daughters PC was connected getting a signal from the router so knew it wasnt that.

thanks again.
