| My computer = Desktop. I am using wired network through a cable modem and router. I have been using wired network for 2 months now and it has been stable. It even worked this morning. It failed to work when I rebooted in the afternoon. And I have made no changes recently to networking options. Cable Modem = Working. Router = Working. My roommates' laptops can connect through wireless. Attempted the following: Reboot = no success Reset cable modem; router = no success Bypass router and connect directly through modem = no success Connect CAT 5E cable to my laptop = wired works. wireless also works. Used windows to 'repair' my network. And the procedures get stuck at Renewing IP address everytime. There certainly is no problem with the Modem, the router, and the CAT5E. And I really hope its not problem with my motherboard..although I am using a good mother board. Asus P5N-E SLI. I dont know how to proceed to fix it. Can someone help? Thank you! EDIT: I am using Win XP Home. Error message is Limited or No Connectivity. Last edited by agc28 : 19th Nov 2007 at 04:21 PM. |

| First off ... try uninstalling and then reinstalling your Network Card driver, rebooting in between.

| New ventures to no success. Just an update I compared ipconfigure /all on my laptop and desktop (sharing the same network). My laptop has values for Default gateway, Dhcp server and Dns servers. My desktop (the one thats not working) does not have Default gateway value, and does not even show Dhcp and Dns servers. |

| Now that i was finally able to disable LAN, it no longer allows me to enable it. It just says 'connection failed' immediately instead of attempting to acquire network address and all that. |
