Default Trouble connecting to my wireless

I recently got a new PCI wireless card after i stepped on the usb one. This one gets better reception and works great when i connected but for some reason it has trouble connecting. I have it set to auto-connect and have entered all the details etc but everytime i restart my computer, it never auto-connects and although if i go into the windows wireless thing, i can see the network, it refuses to connect. It gives reasons such as the security details are incorrect and every other excuse it can think of.

When it does this the only way i can seem to get it to connect is to unplug the modem + router and then plug them in again. This only started with the new card, the old usb one connected automatically everytime

The spec's are:
Core2Duo E4300 @ 3Ghz -- AC Freezer 7 Pro -- Gigabyte GA-965P S3 -- 2x 1Gb DDR2 800
Sapphire X1950Pro -- 250GB + 400GB HDDs -- Hiper Type-R 530W -- Vista Home Premium

Btw i am using a D-Link 524 wireless router and the only other thing connected is another computer which is hardwired in and works fine (and a cat5 patch cable that got stuck in one of the sockets but that was there before this card and isnt connected to anything)

Did you uninstall any utilities/drivers for the old USB Adaptor ?

and have you allowed Vista to manage the Network ?

lol, i never thought of the old drivers but i checked through and dont have any from the CD that came with it (the CD was almost useless lol) i believe Vista just detected it and installed it's own drivers for it.

And yes, i have new drivers installed for the new card and this comes with it's own networking untility but i am just using the windows one (through the network and sharing center)

yea, i have a few times. Weird thing is though, when i hit connect it says it is connected (and in a wee box says connected <--> blueeagle network) but the windows thing doesnt move to the connected symbol and if i open a browser i cant browse to any sites.

I am wondering if it is a problem with the settings on the router because i have to reset it but networking is my weak area in computers so i cant really guess what that problem would be. I can post you screen shots of various setup pages from the router if needed.

little update. I managed to ge connected for the first time today without resetting the router.

I was playing about in the RaLink utility that came with the card and as usual it said "connected" when windows disagreed and i couldnt browse to any sites. After "connecting" and disconnecting a few times using that i moved to the thw windows thing and this instantly said something like "connection cancel" and this could be due to a user disconnection or a time-out. So i head back round to the start page, find my network and double click to connect and just get a wee message saying "do you really want to disconnect?" and i was like no lol, Woot!

So i dont really know what caused that to happen because it is the first time and i have experimented with it a number of times and it didnt auto-connect like it is supposed to but at least it is a start.

So does this mean that there might be a problem with the drivers on my computer rather than a problem with the settings on the router?

Possibly .... but Vista can be a PIA when it comes to Networks.

You could try uninstalling the Wireless Card and then reinstalling it and look to see if a Firmware Update exists for the Router, this can sometimes resolve Vista issues/compatibility problems of which there are many.
