Default Two routers - one broadband connection.

...connect the routers so both can use the net? I have two routers in the house (one is used to connect my Xboxes for system link play and the other is used as a gateway for my broadband connection and to network all the PCs in the house). What I'm wanting to do is connect one of the xboxes to the internet for Xbox Live without having to connect it to the router that is physically connected to the internet. Both routers are wireless, so I'm guessing the two routers can communicate wirelessly? Is this possible? How would one go about doing this? The router connected to the Xboxes does not have internet capabilities on it, which is why I want to connect the two routers.

You have to connect the routers in some manner. If you are doing it wirelessly then it all depends on the capability of the routers you are using. You should be able to set one up as an access point and the other as a repeater.

OK, First of all we need to over come some issues. Because you have a router connected to the internet, we can assume a few basic things about your router setup.1. Both routers are running NAT.2. Both routers are running DHCP3. Both routers assume that they are independent systems. This causes some issues:1. Double NAT = Network No Work2. Two conflicting DHCP servers with the same address range = Network No Work3. Trying to integrate two standalone systems = Configuration changes needed. My advice to you:1. Turn off DHCP in the router connected to the XBOXes2. Turn off NAT in the router connected to the XBOXES3. Turn off ROUTING in the router connected to the XBOXES (this basically turns the router into a big old switch, which is perfect. Now the wireless issue is another matter. If I knew which specific routers you were using, I would know if it supported "Wireless Bridging". In any event, once you do the three tasks i've told you above, you should be able to take a Cat5e cable and plug it between the two systems and the XBOX system should switch the packets just fine.

Default Two routers - one broadband connection.

Hi, sorry to revive this thread, but this is my exact problem.

I am trying to connect two wireless routers together without a wire. One router, Linksys WRT54GS has internet connected to it. Another router, netgear WGR614 has another Lan segment that I am trying to connect wirelessly to the linksys router.

Basically I want the netgear router to act like a wireless bridge (or client, whatever term is more correct) that receives signal from linksys then distributes the internet to the rest of the lan that's connected to the netgear router.

I know a few brand of routers can do this such as buffalo and linksys. but for netgear, I looked everywhere and cannot find a website that describes the specific procedures.

When I typed netgear's IP homepage 192.168.0.1, I do not see any modes that corresponds to bridge, client, or WDS modes. But I am wondering, is it possible to set the netgear router up by specifically configuring the DHCP and subnet mask and SSID stuff like that? Thanks
