Default Uncapping Download Speeds

i was searching for broadband tweeks and found out about uncapping the download speed on dsl cable modems. u edit the .cm file on the moem to your desired speed and the modem will use this speed. i wa going to try it but apparently it flags the company if you download over 600kbps then the check if u have 4mb or more broadband.

i wanted to do mine at around 530kbps just to boost it but i may get caught. do you think i will and has anyone done this?

I've never heard of that before. As all traffic is monitored, I'm fairly certain that a spike like that won't go unnoticed, but as I've said, I've never heard of it. Also, 'dsl cable' is a bit like saying 'I drank my coffee tea'; they are two entirely different technologies.

And finally, 530 kbps seems awful slow for broadband. I'd contact the isp and see what is what....I use a cable modem and get close to 5k download (4873 kbps, I think....)

thanks,

v

yeah, that's something you need to take up with your isp, not here.....doubt we could legally even assist you in that.....

Merton mate

You have made several posts in these forums and the majority of them seem to be geared towards finding an answer as to how gain extra internet connection speed by dubious methods.
Your ISP will know that you are trying to circumvent them and I feel sure that Dave has made comment with regard to this before today.

This thread is closed until I have further discussion with Dave over this issue.
