i have set up a wireless network at home, the main reason is for a weather recording machine that i couldnt set up in my office due to locations of transmitting box.
i have got access to the computer on my new network that is running the programme to record the weather on a oone minute basis, i can copy the recorded files to my computer in the office and run the evaluation programme on my main computer. what i cant appear to do is view the live information on the programme on the second computer.
when i run the programme on the upstairs computer no information is shown. but on the computer down stairs it is.
what i would liek to know is can i view the live programme from downstairs on my upstairs computer, this is when i access the downstairs computer upstairs i want to see the live inforamtion as shown downstairs, is there software or have i done something wrong to not be getting the information?
the weather transmitter is contected to the computer throught he rs232 port on the computer.
i am running XP on both systems and set the system up using the provided system within my network programme on the XP system.
i think i have explained this correcclty if not i will try to provide furhter information.

thank you in advance

Quick and fairly painless way to see one computers screen from another is remote desktop.

On the computer you wish to view remotely go to Start - Control panel - system - under the 'remote' tab select "Allow users to connect remotely to this computer" and take a note of the computers name.

On the computer you wish to view the Live data go to Start - All programs - Accessories - Communication - Remote desktop connection.

Here type in the name of the computer you noted down earlier and it should connect showing you the screen of the computer with the live data.

Any problems post back.

not a problem mate.

If you have an internet connection on your network we can try remote assistance instead. (It may also be useful to have someone else help you with this if the computers are far apart.)

On the downstairs computer go back to system and under the 'remote' tab check the top one: 'Allow remote assistance invitations to be sent from this computer'. (you can uncheck the first one we checked earlier if it's not going to be used)

Then go to Start - all programs - remote assistance and click 'invite someone to help you'. There are several ways to do this by msn or email. If these are easy for you then do that but if you have a network with file sharing it my be easier to do it by file transfer, the bottom link, "save invitation as a file (advanced)"

Follow the step by step guide and save the file in a public folder (shared documents)

Access the shared file on the second computer. It should be a file called RAinvitation.msrcincident. Double click this and click 'yes'. a popup will come up on the first computer asking if you want to let this person view your screen and chat. clicking yes SHOULD share the screen

Again any problems post back, sorry for the long explanation!

This probably won't work. Remote Assistance won't normally work across a LAN.

You need to find out why you can't log on with Remote Desktop Connection.

I don't know what you mean about the Administrator logon name.

Have a look at this tutorial and try again.

I don't know what LAN you're working on but it works just fine on mine. I assume as The original pretext to the problem stated the only reason the software was being used at home was because of the transmitter location that the PC in question is a work one so the Admin won't be accessable if i'm wrong then we can work on a solution to the remote desktop problem.

It may work but I can't get it to... just won't connect but that may be to do with my network, and I have never investigated it.

The Admin problem may be to do with the work computer but I don't understand why he can't just logon with his normal username and password...

Are both the computer running XP Professional?

try using ultra VNC server and viewer, place the server on the one you want to view and place the viewer program on the computer you want to use mainly.

then just insert your local ip for the machine that you want to see remotaly and the rest automaticully is sorted

http://www.uvnc.com/download/index.html

its simple and very easy if u can find your local ip, which we hear can help you find
