Default Verizon Wireless Broadband

I'm in college in Connecticut, and the school network is a joke. It's brutally slow. I was thinking about possibly getting verizon broadband internet service. They say they have good coverage where I am, so ehh. The only problem I face is, I am a gamer and word is that because of the packet transfer system wireless networks utilize, online gaming would be very difficult. I am interested in trying it however, since the school network is nowhere near better, I just want to see if there is anyone who can literally tell me 100% it will not work, and it's definitely definitely definitely a waste of time. Thanks a bunch!

Satellite broadband is no good for gaming(not certain if that is always the case but pretty sure).
Wireless is different and shouldn't be a problem.
