when i do that a software application called summit comes up and shows a representation of all wifi enabled devices in proximity, i can see my hard wired pc/wireless router connection but when i click or even right click it doesn't give the option to log in or enter a password

hep I start uni tomorrow and need this silly thing working so i can use it there nad at home, is it a problem with the toshiba wifi adaptor

i dont believe its a problem with the adaptor itself, just the way its set up. you need to double click on a icon that looks like a pc screen in the bottom corner, it should then show the list of available wireless networks that you can connect to, and hopefully you connect to yours!
the other software is toshibas own, with isnt usually much cop

I connected the netbook via an ethernet cable and it worked fine, how do i check if i have a crappy built in wifi adaptor
