Default VNC wont let me connect

I have two brothers who i set up VNC on their computers. They use Windows XP and TightVNC for their server. Now i try to connect to their computer from my Linux using Remote Desktop Viewer. When i click Connect, the screen satays the same for a long time and wont let me connect, it just hangs there. and after about 10 minutes it says Connection Failed. i thought that maybe becuase im using linux it wont work so i got TightVNC on Wine and same thing happened and i even tried to do it on my Windows XP partition, same problem. Same problem happens even when i turn off their firewall. Any help???

Have you tried RealVNC instead? Get the freeware version of the server and clients and try it.

Also, are you in the same network as your brothers or are you connecting over the internet?
