I have one question i can not figure out about this whole VPN thing, i have the connection setup in xp the router configured correctly but i do not know what do i use as the password and login. where do i set them and like what could they be?

OK, let me walk you through the steps of setting it up:
Go to networks then select "create new connection" from the left.
Then on the next screen you need to select the option with VPN.
Then decide whether win needs to dial into net before connecting (probably doesn't need to)
Next enter the IP (or DNS), then use the smart card if you want or not.
Add a shortcut to the desktop, it creates a "dialer". Check the properties for anything else that needs to be set.
