| hey all, I have had this puter fully cleaned at CF and updated to XPsp3, all up to date, everything is great! Return to owner, got net up and running, updated Trend Micro protection. Now receiving warnings via Trend that another computer is using the net. The system is "Netgear DGB111G DG834G + WG111 BUNDLE" and investigation leads me to believe that if I get the MAC address for the puter and tell (filter) the router/modem only to accept that address, all will be fine. I am puter literate, but no network experience. Am I heading in the right direction please? NT. |

| I'm not much better than you on Networks, but if you password secure the network, only computers that have the password can use the network. LOL I have a mixed network, my computers are hard wired, and my wife and daughters upstairs are wireless. I was on my daughters computer setting it up and when I hit search for networks, I got signal strength almost as strong from my across the street neighbor as I did mine. |
