Hi everyone,
I've got a problem I was hoping someone might be able to help with? Over the last week my laptop has been getting slower at recognising my wireless connection. At first it was happening for a couple of minutes, then up to an hour before finally, today, the computer does not recognise the connection as being there at all! Other PC's in the building are connected to the network so I know it's not a router problem. I have gone into network connections to try and manually select the network and it doesn't appear any more (it used to). I have not hidden the network so it should appear in the list. When trying to select networks, although mine is never there the networks of the neighbours seem to be. It's almost as if the laptop is not picking up the transmission information from the router. Also, when typing in the router address (192.168.1.254) it is picked up by every computer EXCEPT the laptop. Any idea on how I can rectify this? I never changed any settings so it's puzzling me as to why this is happening!! Many thanks, Gary |

Hi again,
The plot thickens!! I have now connected an external wireless USB to my laptop (hope that makes sense?!) and can pick up the network fine. I guess there must be a problem with the wireless card inside the PC (although it does recognise some networks still (except my own). I have tried un-installing and re-installing the wireless card driver to no avail. Do you think the card could be faulty? Is there anything else I can attempt to try and get it to recognise the home network? Many thanks, Gary |
