Hi,

My house has an Edimax wireless router which is great, but my room is just out of range to be able to pick up the wireless signal.

There is a cable connected to the router which goes to my room, but I plug the cable (some sort of phone cable) into my laptop but it doesn't connect to the internet. Are there settings I need to install or change?

I have tried turning the router off and on but the problem is still there.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

First off .... make sure the NIC Card on the Laptop is enabled and .... on some Laptops there is a physical switch on the front, that needs to be on.

Given the above, you should connect to your Router with no problems. If you have any Firewall running on the Laptop, make sure this is not blocking access.
