I get 20 MBPS over the wired network. over the wireless I get only 10MBPS. is that normal or is there something wrong with the wireless router.
thanks, |

depends on a lot of factors...distance, the electronic "noise" in your home or area, and obstacles between you and your router. Now if you are getting max signal and excellent strenght and it tells you you are at the higest connection rate the wireless can give say 54MBps then that's your tops and other factors could be at play. Overall wireless is a little slower than wired at close range. But I game wireless and I still do ok. But I would go wired if speed is critical it takes out all the unknowns that wireless can bring. Example- I am on one end of the house my router is on the other- I can have 54Mbps one minute and 24Mbps the next...I have checked things out and it's my neighborhood. I have a lot of neighbors with wireless along with the distance and every other factor in there.
I guess your question leaves out too many variables to answer with any real accuracy so I have given you some ideas to work with.... |

Actually, although in most circumstances your right, over a longer distance wireless can sometimes be faster, rarely though. I know that doesn't particularly help, I just thought I'd say
