If its sending and not recieving it may be blocked/firewalled by the system that is administrating the network?

hi, since waiting on any replies i have been on phone with local cable company. they cant help either, got me to try on IE the ip address to bring up my router page connected with them and it wouldnt. also tried start run command and ipconfig. the address on the laptop starts 169. im a novice at the technical side so dont know what to do next. doesnt look like any firewall on the system either.

OK, I dont know the exact route as i am not familiar with the 2000 CP, but you should find it ok.

go to:

Start>Control Panel>Networking(Or similar, I really dont know what this'll be!)

and you need to uncheck the box saying "Automatically detect IP and DNS settings and then enetr them manually in the appropriate place from

Start>Run>CMD>ipconfig
