Default Wireless Connection Issues

First post, thanks for looking in and lending a hand ;-)

I started having issues the other day with an unrelated event (software issue) so I ran scandisk (fix errors automatically) and also ran disk cleanup and defrag.

Came in yesterday morning to find that my wireless internet access is out. I have done the following:

-My router (on another computer) is broadcasting the SSID
-I have re-installed my wireless card (NETGEAR WG311T
-When I run ipconfig /all it tells me that my devices are disconnected
-Even though the icon in the system tray pops up and says there are networks available when I go to see them it tells me that there are none available.

I've also had to run: services.msc and turn on a bunch of stuff that somehow had been disabled.

No viruses I don't think.

I have no idea what to do next. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance - Archaeoman

I think that you may have a malware problem of some sort from the description you give.

So as we can rule that out you might like to download HijackThis and post a log so as I can have a look through it and see if there is anything malware related stopping your wireless connection.

Download HijackThis to your desktop.
Double-click on the file you just downloaded.
Click on the "Install" button to install.
It will by default install to the directory - C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis
Please do not change the default install location.
Upon install, HijackThis should open for you.
Now close HijackThis to rename it to tcfscan.exe

Important
Rename the Hijackthis.exe file to tcfscan.exe
This is important because some forms of malware can hide from HijackThis.
Right click the HijackThis.exe file in C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis
Choose Rename.
Type in tcfscan.exe and press the enter key.
Right click the tcfscan.exe file and send to desktop to create a shortcut.

Next click on the "Do a system scan and save a log file" button.
HijackThis will scan and then a log will open in notepad.
In the top left of the notepad window click "File" > "Save As" name it hijackthis and then save it to the Desktop.
Please save the log as a text (.txt) file or .log
Do NOT attach MS-Word .DOC files, they will NOT be looked at!
In your post, add the log as an Attachment.
* Don't have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
** Don't use the Analyse This button. It's findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.

OK

I have had a quick look through the log and I don't see any malware running on your computer.

I will post another reply later.
