Default Wireless Extender to "dogleg"

This is for my daughter who has a wireless link between 2 PCs. Problem: Bloomin' great central heating boiler in the way.
Q: Could a wireless extender, strategically placed, be used to "dogleg" the signal round the boiler?

Thanks.

I'm not a fan or extenders to be honest, they are stand alone units so if they forget their settings they have to be moved to a PC or a PC moved to it in order to re-program it, they are also unreliable.

Money would be better spent on a better router with more range as described in your other thread.

Do you think this would Help overcome what I presume is attenuation caused by the intervenig metalwork of the boiler?

A better signal will definitely help, a booster is as hit and miss as trying a better router to be honest, so there is no real reason not to go the router option.

Look up 'N1 Mimo' on Google, it's the latest wireless technology and is pretty good, if not a bit expensive, but it will come down.

'N1 Mimo' is not to be confused with plain 'Mimo'.

EDIT*

The point I try to make many times when people suggest boosters is if you own a 1986 skoda will putting Yokohama tyres on it make it a race car?

No it wont... Buy a race car then put better tyres on it if you need them.

So rather than boost a crap signal, buy a better router and make the original signal better...
