I've been trying to set up my xbox 360 with a wireless adapter, and thought that the reason it wasn't working may be something to do with my router I went into the settings page of my router - something like http://162.198.1.1 and stupidly changed it from WEP to WPA, and now my wireless connection isn't working and I can't get back to that page to change it back!!! Any ideas as to what to do? Last edited by evilfantasy : 16-11-2007 at 09:46 AM. Reason: munged link

You need to tell your PC that you are now going to be connecting with WEP. To do this you need to open the wireless connection manager on your computer. This should be a little aerial thing in your system tray. Double click on it. This will open up a window that show you the available wireless networks. Hopefully yours should be shown there. If it isn't then we'll cross that bridge later. But it will be there! Click on it and it will ask you to enter your key. Hopefully this will be the same as your old one, if it is different then you will have to temporarily connect to the router with a wired connection to repair things. Once you have this hopefully you will be able to reconnect to the network. Then it is up to you whether you change it back to WPA. There is no real reason to do this because WEP is just a bit more secure then WPA and your XBOX is compatible with WEP. If this doesn't work post back and I will explain more. Also, once it is working I can help connect the XBOX.

I've got the wireless network working again as it was. The xbox wireless adapter still isn't working though. Have managed to get it working by hooking it up to my laptop, which is ok but not ideal. The red LED is coming on my adapter when I plug it in which leads to believe that it isn't functioning properly

Glad you go the wireless connection back again. Can you give me a bit more information about the wireless adapter that you are using. I assume you plug an ethernet cable into it and the XBOX and then it creates a wireless connection to your router. When you plug it in does your XBOB show any networks that it could connect to? Do you have a manual that could tell you what a red light means? If not, give the model name of it and I will find you one.

it's the official xbox adapter that plugs into the usb port at the back as far as i'm aware a red light should come on when the adapter is connected and that should turn to green when it connects to a network
