We've been having some trouble with the network in our house lately. We had a technician from charter come over and he said that the problem was most likely with the settings on our router. He's apparently not allowed to mess with it himself so I need some help with configuring it.

Our router is a Netgear model WPN824. I appreciate any help.

Well for the last week our internet connection has just stopped working, but it says that our network is still up and running.

ok Firstly do you have a modem aswel as the router ?
if so then follow these steps,
Turn of your ISP modem, wait 10 mins turn it back on
then turn your router back on
and try and re connect to the internet if this hasnt fixed the problem i sugest that you set the router back to defualt and re try the prossess this will alow any permisions that maybe be blocking your internet connection.
if this stil dosent work I recommend you speak with you ISP and ask them to test your line stil if no joy try connecting another computer / wirless device to your network and then see if you have internet access.

I actually tried unplugging everything and plugging them back in after waiting for a few minutes and it seems like it worked. The connections back up but I have no idea if it will last or if it will just go out again in a few hours like its been doing for the last week. Also, I don't know if it's related but the internet connection on my laptop is kind of slow right now.
