The internet has gone down on my sons pc. Looking in hardware settings in control panel it is as if the wireless PCI card has vanished. I will get around to taking the cover off and having a look when I get a spare few hours, but in the meantime I have a spare ADSL modem / router - is there any way of using this as a wireless adapter to connect to the router we use for the internet connection????

The router is a transmitter not a receiver, so no, it will not work.

Remove the PCI card and power on the PC with it removed, windows will then assume it's not there.

Then power off and plug it back in, then power on and windows should detect it as new hardware.
