Default Wireless problems please help?

have a 4mg netgear wireless router but for some reason its going really slow?

not all times and can rule out any spyware etc i cant understand it?

have the wireless connection password protected but cant help feeling someone is using the connection?

how can i tell i used to know a command prompt for the run menu but for the life of me cant think of it?


is there another way

i know its an awefull lot of questions but its driving me mad

If you suspect someone is leeching your connection, just change your wireless security code if WEP up it to WPA as well.

You need to get into your Router's configuration settings ... it should tell you how to do this in the manual.
Using a web browser such as IE you would normally type in something like 192.168.1.1 to gain access. Then it's a question of going to Wireless Security and setting or changing to the correct settings.
Check out the manual, as various makes & models have different configuration settins.

If you go into the routers menu (192.168.1.1) If you click "attached devices" down the side you should be able to see everyone that is logged into your router. You may need to click refresh a couple of times though.
You should be able to set the router up, so it will only respond to your computer/laptop and only allow you access.
