Default Wireless --> Wire

Ok, i'm trying to get my dad to let me drill a hole in my wall so I can connect the router directly to my PC with an Ethernet cable.

I'm basically after points to help win my argument :P

-He says he doesn't want me screwing up all the other PC's in the house.
-He doesn't want me to drill a hole in my wall, even though there is a bookcase one side, and a welcsh(sp) dresser the other side.. The hole would not be visible.
-He doesn't want wires all over the house.. Yet my method would include about 10cm wire visible, coming out of the bookcase, and going into my PC... And that would be hard to spot unless you bent over and looked behind my desk.. =/

In a little bit of a rush. please feel free to mention anything/ask questions.

Any help is appreciated. I'd just like to get help convincing my dad to let me make my computer better :P

*The reason i'd like to change to wires is because wireless is causing a bit of annoyance with the FPS games I play :)

Providing you have decent equipment and signal quality playing games should be no problem on wireless.

What speeds/quality are you getting from your equipment?

You say you're next door so it should be fairly good.

If you are downloading at the same time then you don't stand much chance playing games on either setup.

Nah, i'm not downloading at the same time.

I'm having the highest speeds you can get from the router, 5bars. But then suddenly i'll get no signal for a few seconds to 30seconds at its worst.

I'm not next door, i'm just in the room next to the router. :)

I do have decent equipment, but I think it's my wireless that's causing the lag.

It's my parents house... Unfortunately -.-

if you can't drill a hole, i'd lift the floor boards in both rooms and pass a wire underneath

--> It's a BT Voyager 2000, it's alright.. But.. I'd still prefer a wire much more than the way it's set up now.

-----

The floorboards thing isn't quite possible, but it was a great idea =D The thing is, it's wooden floor that's all stuck together... I've forgotten the name of it to be honest XD You can't just pull up one without pulling up the whole thing :) The whole flooring of my bedroom cost just over £900, so meh -_-
