Default Access is denied...all of a sudden

Hi all, please could someone help me out?

Im getting an "access is denied" spiel when ever I try opening music files/pictures/text etc on files that I have moved by drag drop. It just started happening on all files I move and i cant reverse it...

1. how do I stop this?
2. fix the affected files?

I can copy and paste these files at will and they will work but if I drag drop any file to a different directory Access is denied.

*I have Unlocker and it allows me to delete anything and move anything. V 1.8.5
*I have tried to alter a files properties but access is denied to change any attributes.

Specs: Im running XP-home, all the files are on the same hard drive (internal).

Thanx for any help or links,

Default Access is denied...all of a sudden

Start-->Run... and enter

cmd

cacls filename_or_folder

will tell you what your access is like there. Just cacls will give you the format to change things. (And mess things up big time.)

Have you downgraded your account to an ordinary user account?

On many computers, log out, press Ctrl+Alt+Del twice and enter Administrator as username and a blank password to login with all rights! If you installed Windoze yourself you were probably prompted for an admin password.

That is telling you how to run cacls! Just

cacls .

will tell you about the current folder. If you wanted to grand user jibberjabber all access to all files you would type

cd \
cacls . /e /t /g jibberjabber:f

(note the dot)

But you would need to run it as a user with enough permissions already. Try booting to safe mode (hold down F8 whilst booting), login as Administrator and run it.

That is a last resort though! First, as Administrator, change yourself back to admin rights yourself.
