hey, i have an acer extensa 5420 and i play alot of games on it, recently i accidentally broke the lcd screen so i have just been using an external monitor which has been working fine. but recently the laptop kept shutting itself off for some reason so i decided to use the alt+f10 to reformat and it wiped it fine but now halfway through reformatting it wont show up on my external monitor anymore and i have no idea what to do O.o' help would be greatly appreciated

If the laptop is shutting itself off it's probably overheating which may explain this too. Clean the fans.

Yep, if an OS crashes during install you have a hardware issue, sounds like overheating.
