Hi All, Autoplay seems to have taken over my computer. It doesn't matter whether there is a disc in the drive or not. The Autoplay message box with an oscillating torch symbol appears in the top left hand corner of the screen and Autoplay is shown in the task bar at the bottom of the screen. This can happen during any programme I am running or even when the pc is idle and just showing the desktop. If I am in a programme the pc freezes until the "Autoplay" clears. When playing games the problem is worse and in all cases I am thrown back to the desktop with multiple instances of Autoplay showing in the task bar. Often there is not enough room in the task bar and it will show windows explorer with a number in front of it. The highest number so far is 15. presumably the number of Autoplay instances running. Often I get back into the game only to be thrown straight out again. I have used TweakUI to disable all drives of Autoplay and used various uninstaller programmes to try and remove all traces of uninstalled programmes. Nothing seems to work so I hope you guys can help. I attach a HijackThis log for you to look at. Cheers Frank

Bump. And moved to Windows Operating Systems in an effort to gain more views. Short history, the OP and I have investigated this problem to no end, so if anyone has ANY ideas to explore please advise. Thanks, EF.

try removing one of your USB device. I once had that problem which was caused by an external memory card reader

Ok Hassan, will give it a try. I'm clutching at straws now. Nothing else seems to work. When you say remove a USB device, do you mean to just unplug it or fully uninstall it? I have only the normal USB devices attached. Printer, label printer, scanner, mouse, keyboard and wired modem. So nothing really out of the ordinary. Cheers Frank

Do u no exactly what other devices you have that could cause the auto-play to come up. you should try experimenting, opening a device that could cause auto-play to come up. I know that it can be really fustrating, but i think that in my case it was kind of worth it
