Default A bit of advice

Hello all.

Just wondering if any of you know of this registry edit and can you tell me whther it is worth doing? It is supposed to speed up the opening of a program dramatically second time around in Windows OS.

From what i read on various websites, the user navigates to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\SessionManager\MemoryManagement

the user then changes the LargeSystemCache value to 1 and does the same for the DisablePagingExecutive.

If any users have done this can you please tell me if it has any effect when opening a program, leaving it for a few seconds then closing it down and opening again?

will try this myself and post results.

I would leave your reg alone unless your 100% you know what your doing and 100% sure you can reverse the changes. Also you'd be best of letting your programs open in there own time, if the reg as a default value then its there for a reason. But this is just some friendly advise and i doubt its what you want to hear but honestly id try and leave the reg alone as much as you can. If your programs are taking a while to open then this may be malware/spyware etc.

Cheers for the heads up mate, its being done on my PC which has very little important stuff on it, its all on my laptop. I just looked for a way to open programs faster because i use Photoshop and 3DS MAX a lot and i tend to close them often instead of closing the inner window. If i get around to plugging my PC in i might back it up and give it a try.

It actually worked!!

it worked very very well infact. Opening Photoshop CS3 Extended usaed to take about 20-30 seconds to load to a point where i could use it. Now it opens in 3!

If Photo-bodge-it works then heres a video. excuse my crummy camera and monitor:
