You need the version that matches your current install.

So if you are running with Pro with SP2 you need that one, if they don't match the repair option wont be available and you will have to format and do a fresh install.

To be honest I'm not sure.. I've had this system for 7 years now.. Might as well just start over.. I know I'm gonna lose everything but oh well..

The hard drive is probably shot so you will need to fresh install anyway.

First just get the software and try and install it, the hard drive may be ok.

But yeah, any IDE 3.5" hard drive will do, some brands are better than others and they come in various sizes.

A search here with bring up some mixed preferences on brands.

For reasons unknown I'm back up and running.. I unhooked the power cord, monitor, keyboard, etc.. to pull off the side panel to make sure everything was still secure.. I don't know why, I just did.. At this time I realize where I threw some old discs in a box.. I found my XP cd.. I hook all cords back up, hit the power button and the thing fired up.. Who knows.. I am up and running now....
