Default blue screen error messages - HELP

Hi..I am currently troubleshooting this error as well on a Dell Dimension 4600 purchased in 2004....specifically:

STOP:0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0x805A360E, 10xF7A3C1E4, 0xF7A3BEE0)

appears on boot up and only "last known configuration" works. Safe mode produces same error!

I'm not sure if I should wipe and reload this system or not....Curious about more info on your system...do you have AOL 9 VR with spyzapper (recently updated) or an HP printer??

Recently HP deskjet D1300 series was installed, but even when I removed that software and driver it still happened. Also AOL spyzapper was a forced update (can't un-install)

It happens pretty much on every reboot....

Did the hotfix work for you??? The only reason I have not tried that yet was because under the numbers in the stop error I have, there is no more information, no driver listed or anything. The hotfix mentioned here lists " aec.sys" under the stop error numbers. Again my error list nothing after the numbers

Thanks..

-Rob

Doing a Windows repair sorts 99% of issues like this, it's a simple and quick way of fixing it.

Hi Rob
Don't know if the patch worked or not I looked around and came up with a possible fix.Denno666 hasn't been back on to say it didn't so there a fair chance it did also a chance he found another solution. Like Dave says Windows repair is always a good way to go on these types of problems, certainly before you do a reinstall.

Hmmmmmm...Yes a reload is always a very last resort. Even a repair of windows may not work if its a 3rd party issue. But I'm leaning toward HP software being the culprit. It all seemed to start after this new printer was installed. Because this machine ALSO has a problem with using msconfig ever since the HP Deskjet D1300 series installation.
When attempting to apply settings in msconfig:

"an access denied error was returned while attempting to change a service. You may need to log on using an administrator account to make the specified changes"

But the changes are still made....

Researching that error points to HP software (service Pml Driver HPZ12) as one possible culprit. Even after un-installing HP software this problem still exists, but must be because the service still exists or something from HP still lurks. Re-installed HP software and each installation just gets worse (ie not finishing completely etc) which I've seen on other HP model software too.... Their software SUCKS anymore. It needs to be added to the signature databases of all anti-malware programs.....lol.

Anyway, my next step will be to manually remove any leftover pieces from HP, files, foders, reg entries...see if both problems disappear.

This is not my machine so it may be a little while before I can try this...But I'll try and keep the forum informed of any progress.

BTW the above mentioned "access denied" error can also be caused by other software too like Mcafee. (Which is not installed on the computer I'm dealing with)

Did you do a restore point before the install? Daft question we all know we should but!
Certainly sounds like it was the HP software, good luck with the unpicking.

Default blue screen error messages - HELP

hi

sorry guys i havent checked my messages for a while so only just realised had replies on here.

anyway i still keep getting blue screen error messages. i havent written what they were though so dont know if they the same or not, i ended up wiping my comp again on sunday but i've had a few error messages since then (one this morning when actually switched on comp)

anyway to guy who asked before i have a dell printer not hp and i have aol 9.0 (not vr).

i personally think that my comp is f*cked. i can live with it and whilst annoying it doesnt have too much of an effect. just v annoying. (and sometimes comp can run really slow but at the mo is running fine)

that software i downloaded didnt seem to work the first time however i havent downloaded it this time so will try again.

thanks for all your help though. if have anymore solutions i'd still defo appreciate it

Was the PC blue screening during and after the XP re-install, or did it begin when you started adding third party software back on to it.

hi, before i did the original wipe of the comp (ie when i got the pro in) i didnt ever get any blue screen messages and had a lot more software on my system than i do now.

anyway i didnt give it any time to see if blue screen messages came up without any of the software downloads so i cant say for sure whether it works fine with no software on.

anyway the software i have is:
google update, aol 9.0, quicktime, Sonic record now and start my dvd (think part of sonic), Adobe, Mozilla firefox, internet explorer, msn messenger, avg 7.,5 anti virus, peer guardian 2, dvd decrypter, dvd shrink 3.2, vso divx to dvd, real player, ad aware lavasoft, win rar, (divx converter, movie player and movies), vcd gear, azureus and spy doctor.

after going through that last i just realised that there are some i didnt have before the v first wipe of comp. they are:
mozilla firefox, peer guardian 2 (i did have another one similar peer guardian 2 but dont know what it was), dvd shrink 3.2 (although i had that on disk, just wasnt actually downloaded onto comp - i just used to run it from disk), peer guardian 2 and vcd gear. also the azureus i have now is the latest version (3. whatever) whereas previous 2.5 or something like that

The main reason this happens is due to a corrupted drivers or your boot files. The best solution is to reinstall the windows , otherwise u can try system restore and restore the computer to an older date .
