Default Blue screen Windows splash screen

ok,so im a noob to your site, so ill start off by saying hello, my names mike, im 20 years old, and im here for your help.

recently i formatted my pc, due to a windows validation error. (i guess the store that fixed my computer about a year or so ago installed a pirated version of windows, but lets not get into that) so i install windows after a format (not a DOS format, due to not having a floppy drive)

i install all the windows updates, drivers for my video card and sound card, msn live and call of duty 4. i play a few rounds of CoD4 and it ran perfectly. a few hours later tha game was running a bit choppy, so i checked to see what it could be. realized i needed Framework 2.0.. mid install of that, it froze, asked my pc to restart, so i obliged. after the restart, the computer loads the windows splash screen, then a quick glimpse of the blue screen of death, but only for a mere second or two.
then it just restarts. over, and over, and over and over again.

so i format again, install everything again, works fine for a day or so, then i go to restart after a fresh install of another game, and yet again, after the install, it gives me the same problem.
so i started to realize a pattern, works fine for a while, i can restart it safely 3-4 times before it does this.

so as for right now, i took out that hard drive and put in a smaller, older one, just to get by and be able to go on msn, check email, etc... but im depressed that i have a gaming computer, that is incabable of playing games. i have NOT installed anything to this hard drive, im keeping it clean and not turning it off untill i have some type of solution, so i dont have to spend another 2 hours installing windows, like i have 4 times in the past week already.

i have searched through google and found a few people with the same problem, but couldnt find a good enough answer to figure out what it is.
so PLEAAAAAASE hopefully someone can help me here.. if i need to list my PC specs just ask and ill look through and type out whats inside.

if you can help me quicker on msn, please feel free to add me, <EDIT>

Please don't put email addresses in the forums. We can all learn from the help given within the posts. It also is a quick way to get loads of spam from the spam bots that patrol open forums looking for email addresses.
