i suspect hardware problems

It sounds like this may be a memory or HDD issue.

Try memory first ..... if more than 1 stick is installed, remove one and see if things improve. If not swap them around, sticking to 1 stick.

Can you get onto your comp without bsod? if so is there a specific time when this happends like playing games? Also try running memtest a couple times to check out your ram.
Have you installed any new hardware lately?
Also you might want to try and run chkdsk /r at recovery console and re-allocate your paging space.

thanks philthomas for answering...i have only one stick and i tried swapping.... still the same...


and thanks to you also kanoakavirus...there is no specific time that bsod happenes...some times i get it during startup...some times..when i use internet explorer 7...i ran memtest and also windows memory diagnostics but for 1 pass only...they did not find faults...i did a chkdsk..still no use...i dont know how to re-allocate my paging space...kindly explain on how to do it...i have a 160 gb sata HDD and i have a single partition only..(C: only)

Try booting a live distro, say a Linux live CD/DVD. That will eliminate any software or HDD problems.
