MY Acer Aspire 7000 laptop crashed with this BSOD stop error. Technical information:
STOP: 0X0000007E (0XC0000005,0X861974C9,0XF78D1C4C,0XF78D194. I could not get to my desktop or start Safe Mode. So I decided to use my Acer eRecovery Management back-up dvd to restore system from dvd. It started the restore partition process but stopped after a few seconds with an error box saying: "The file 90E4Q901.001 is wrong please check it and press OK to retry. I pressed OK and nothing happened. Please help.

Are there any other DVD' you can use to install the O/S again?

If an error occurs in all three scenarios it suggests it is a hardware problem. Have you changed anything physically recently like memory?

No I have not changed anything recently like memory. I used the Acer eRecovery dvd which I was instructed to make by Acer when I first got the laptop. The OS for my Acer laptop is Windows XP Media Centre Edition which was pre installed by Acer. This OS, Windows XP Media Centre Edition is in the ACER eRecovery DVD. So it did not work. I have a Windows XP Professional OS CD lying somewhere in my room and I was wondering can I do a fresh install with this Windows XP Professional OS when my system came with Windows XP Media Centre Edition. Please what three scenarios are you refering to. Thanks for your intrest and help so far.

Yes. Try installing XP, report if there are any problems though.

I am refering to the installation of XP, the recovery disk and botting up windows normally.
