You can't use the same product key on two computers.

i havnt, is u read what i put it states that i used "his product key"
from his laptop that broke
so all i used the disk for is to get the version.

does the rest of ur thread still apply to me?

Run the MGADiag to be sure it is registered. If it isn't then that will explain the problems.

Welll.. there is another way of doing it, ermm it probably wont work but its worth a try, you can download your updates through microsofts website.

i did try having a look for a link, but i cant see it, but i am pretty certain there was a way.

Because the Validation Control is not installed, you need you to go to the Diagnostic Site: http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag/ and follow the instructions there.

Oh bugger, i got my pc from a school who were upgrading their systems, thought i'd check and it comes up with Blocked VLK

Oh well, in with the ubuntu cd

I had the same problem so I reinstalled windows xp and that solved it.
