im running XP SP2, and my network places will lock every second time i try to open it.

to open my network places, i have to go through the very long and incredibly annoying process of:
open my network places, wait for computer to unlock, close it, ----> open my computer, click the my network places link, wait for computer to unlock again -----> open my network places.

then the next time i want to open my network places, i have to go through the whole process again.

Have you checked properties for anything strange?

Lots of Network issues applied to XP, but many were sorted out with SP3 ..... I'm not saying this will definitely cure your issue, but it's worth updating anyway
