Hi all you clever people I hope you can help me please.(Sorry if in wrong section!)

I would like to stream my mp3's stored on my Pc to my xbox 360 via an already working ethernet connection.( fine with xbox live and both cables are plugged into a Thompson 500. router)
The problem I have is that my PC was one bought form Tiny just before they went bust in 2004. It works well its 2.41 GHZ/ 512MB ram not good now but ok for what I need.

However when I tried to download service pack 2 for XP when it came out the PC
just hanged with the windows blue screen. No amount of calls to Microsoft could fix
this, I just had to reformat the hard drive everytime and live with SP1.

Which up to now has been fine. However apparently you need SP2 for WMP 11
which allows streaming to the 360.

I've googled loads ( without much success) but "apparently" you could stream with windows media connect 1.0. But Microsoft no longer lets you download this.

So is there a way round this or should I start saving now for a new PC?

Well if you need SP2 then there is not much choice.

SP2 is probably crashing due to a hardware conflict.

Try a clean XP install then put SP2 on straight away before you touch anything else.

I did several clean installs on the instructions of Microsoft but still had the problem.
Microsoft actually gave up and gave me free software. (Not bad of them rerally as
it was Tiny's crap machine at fault).

Is there a site that would have a download of Window Media Connect 1.0, I think this may be my only choice, as I'm lead to believe this works with service pack 1?

WMC 1.0 needs SP2 also.

Take from Microsoft site:

Thanks Dave , I guess my only option is a new PC or a soundbridge if i want to stream then....bummer.
