Default Checking file system on C:\

Every time I log on I get the message Checking File system on C : File system is NTFS I would be grateful for any advice on this as I feel this must be a warning that there could be problem very soon.Thanks for any help. Jean...

Is this before the actual Windows log on screen shows or is this actually in Windows?

That normally happens because you haven't shut down properly.

When that message pops up, do you let the scan run or bypass it?

If you bypass it, it will try again at next boot regardless of shutting down correctly.

We have let the scan run each time although it is tempting to bypass it we always let it run, it has been happening for about a week.

Does it come up with a blue screen before the windows log in saying Chkdsc m8?

I believe we have confirmed that it is the pre-windows checkdisk yes.

Normally windows has good reason to prompt this, however that scan is only a basic one.

I would run a full check disk via windows > right click the drive in my computer > properties > tools > error check/checkdisk > tick the auto fix files system errors box and go.

It will ask you to reboot, then let the test run.

I was jusr wondering if he had scheduled the chkdsc to run and now it is running everytime he boots up
or whether he has his drive patitioned and has a bad sector
