Default Computer doesn't shut down

Hope this is the right area for this,

I recently installed service pack 1 and now when I click shutdown my computer gets to the final screen, the blue one saying shutting down, and then seems to be stuck. The first time I noticed it it was left overnight and it was still on this screen in the morning. I have tried uninstalling SP1 and reinstalling but it didnt help.

I am using vista home premium if thats of any help. Other places say its part of Roxio causing it but I had this program when I bought the computer so I dont see how it could be that.

Anyone solved a similar problem?

I had the same thing a while back and it wouldn't go away for ages, then just when I was about to post on CJF it worked again..

So I didn't and now it is doing it again.

I havn't tested it properly, so it may just be coincidence, but if it's any help when I leave my monitor ON while it shuts down it WILL shutdown..

It's strange though I don't see what difference that should make.. my wireless adapters plugged into the monitor instead of the computer, but that shouldn't matter..

Anyway, you could try it!!

I always have my monitor on when i shut it down. I have left it on overnight to see if it was just being slow but it was still on the shutting down screen in the morning. I'll have a play around turing off different bits but so far i cant find what it is thats causing it.

Your first step could be to open task manager and then end all the applications, then try shutting down.

If it works it'll prove its a program as opposed to.. anything else..

Someone else will probably ask you to post a HJT log.. because they always do.. but I think this is easier personally.
