Default Computer SID Problems

Well, I've really messed up my computer. This morning I downloaded windowblinds 6, and with it came newSID. The instructions said to type a specific SID number in there. I didn't realise this would create a new account/driver sort of thing, so I cancelled.

When I rebooted, I found a nearly clear desktop and most of my stuff gone. Panicked for a minute, but then went into C:\Documents and Settings and found my old driver still there with all the stuff in.

But I wanted to get back to that instead of the clear desktop thing I have now. The next part was incredibely stupid. I thought to get back to it, I could create a newSID again, but type in the EXACT details and username as my old one, to try and get back to it.

It didnt work, and when it rebooted I couldnt log in on WindowsXP at all. I created a guest account and now Im back on the near clear desktop, but when Im in documents and settings and try and click my old one it says Access Denied.

I dont know where to start to try and fix it, and I'm worried about doing anymore damage.

Problem with being a guest.. I dont have any permission to fix anything, but its either guest or nothing as I can't log in as anything else. Its all there, I just think Windows can't recognise how to get to it anymore.

Can you get into safe mode? See how HERE.

If you can get into safe mode, log in and then do a system restore. See how HERE.

Let me know if this resolves your problem.

Regards Jase
