Ok, I built my own computer and installing XP was a breeze a few months back, now I went to format due to clutter, and didn't check the code was intact, just my luck it has a scratch across two digits. I cannot make it out and I'm really stressed, please, someone help me?

Calling Microsoft is expensive though?

CD Keys

  • When installing your Microsoft product, you may be prompted for a CD Key. If you do not have a valid CD Key, you may not be able to install your software.
  • If you are unable to find your CD key or your CD key is not being accepted, please phone our contact centre for assistance. Please note, when you contact Microsoft for a replacement CD Key, you may be requested to provide proof of ownership.

If your asking if their`s a program to read the code of the disc then i think the answer is no,
If you want to find the code to something already installed then there`s this

It's 2 alphanumeric digits, I'm laboriously trying every combination.

Right, but that program above will read it from your PC thus giving you the missing digits. Unless you already formatted?
